Quiet with the Lord

God will give you peace if you are quiet with Him during your troubles.

Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp. Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, put your hope in the Lord— now and always. Psalm 131:1-3

The writer of this psalm shares that he does not concern himself with matters too great to understand and replaces those futile thoughts by quieting himself in the presence of the Lord like a weaned child with the mother. Are you worried about things too great for you to understand this morning? Are you allowing the news feeds to consume your thoughts and emotions? Are the trials in your life overwhelming you to the point where you have a hard time functioning with daily tasks? The Bible says that the only answer is to stop and calm down in the presence of the Lord who will give us peace that passes all understanding and joy that is everlasting. Go to the green pastures and gentle streams of eternity and feel the soothing breeze of heaven in through prayer and God’s Word today. Troubles are like quicksand that swallows up its victim the more they struggle. Hit the pause button and wait patiently on the Lord to deliver you in your afflictions because He has already delivered your soul in Christ. May God bless us on the journey of solitude and peace in His presence today. AMEN.
