Patience and Self-Control

Patience and Self-Control will reveal Jesus to others.

Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. Proverbs 16:32.

Patience and self-control are two fruits of the Spirit mentioned by the apostle Paul in Galatians chapter 11. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are in direct contrast to the message given by this world of sin. This proverb brings out the contrast between the fruits of the Spirit and the desires of our sinful nature. We see in the conflict in Ukraine how the passion for power leads to actions to conquer others and subdue them through military strength. It is better to be patient and have self-control even in situations when we are taken advantage of because these qualities reveal the character of Jesus Christ. People need to see the Savior in this world of sin and the best way to do it as the bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If we are cleansed of sin by the blood of Jesus and filled with these fruits, many in our spheres of influence will be able to taste and see that the Lord is good all the time. May God bless us as we bear His fruit that includes patience and self-control which counteracts the selfish powerplays we see in the world today. AMEN.
