Builders for God

We must build our lives with God's plans

Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. Psalm 127:1-2

We are all builders for God’s kingdom. The Lord calls us to be like Solomon who followed the instructions given to his father David in constructing the temple with His exact specifications. The temple was a place where God planned to dwell with His people and point them to the coming Messiah through the sacrifices and festivals. The psalm for this morning tells us to build our lives with the Lord as the general contractor and architect. The language seems to say that God builds our house, and He does all the work. A builder takes the plans and hires sub-contractors to complete the job with his directions and oversight. The Lord wants us to seek Him first and build our lives on the Rock Jesus Christ. Jesus is our sure foundation and the chief cornerstone who keeps us aligned for His glory. All our efforts in life are futile if the Lord is not guiding our steps. We are temples of the Holy Spirit bought with the price of Jesus Christ and His shed blood. The Lord wants to have a place to dwell in our lives bringing us peace and joy.  May God bless us as we build our lives on the Rock and allow the Lord to be master architect and chief counsel for all our plans. AMEN.
