“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. 2 Kings 6:16-17
The Aramean king was upset with Elisha for telling the king of Israel his plans before he could set them in motion. The king sent a great army to surround the town of Dothan and capture Elisha. The servant of Elisha was afraid when he saw the large army, but he found peace when God opened his eyes revealing the chariots of fire. Those chariots of fire were occupied by heavenly hosts. All the Aramean soldiers were temporarily blinded, and God preserved Elisha’s life. Do you feel like the servant of Elisha today? Are the odds stacked against you? Do you feel trapped financially, emotionally, or even spiritually with no way out? If God brought chariots of fire to deliver Elisha, He will bring them for you in His time and in His way. God has already poured out all of heaven in Christ to save us through His sacrifice on Calvary, and that proves the Lord is willing to take care of us in times of need. Trust in the Lord this morning. Pray to Him while reciting Bible promises and you will receive courage and faith to wait for God’s rescue plan that is always perfect. AMEN.
